Expressing Rights

Its one of those days.

I sit, I work, listen to some music and in general exist happily in my little bubble. Then something is in my face, and the bubble is gone. POP!

Ah the joys of life. At least I have one.

This is what I came across: LINK. This is an article about a 14 year old girl who spoke up in Pakistan. Not really against anyone, but about herself. Her choice. Her world. So she was shot.

To me, a person should be able to speak. That is the way things are supposed to be. A child, a woman, a man, everyone should be able to speak their own piece. Others are of course not expected to listen.

Apparently that is not how it works. I am not talking gender discrimination, I am talking flat out suppression. Just because she said something someone else did not want to listen to, they tried to silence her permanently. It sounds so cliched, so old school mafia movie like, and yet it actually happened.

Not a reality check I wanted but there you go. I am sure the kid did not want to get shot. No one does. She only used her fundamental right to speech. The least I can do is use mine.

There are so many things to learn here, but one thing is for sure, if one is not safe anyways, I might as well do what I please, so that I would have no regrets later. I like that plan.

Speak. Because I have a voice to say what I want.

Live. Such a simple thing, but something so many others are unable to do.

Be. Because I can.
